9th Grade Literature Project 1: Empathy Collage.

For our first project in 9th grade literature, we create an Empathy Collage to make a connection between the lotus eaters in the Odyssey and a drug addictions in the modern world. Our collage compared the lotus eaters struggle to survive on a island and the way people use drugs in the real life. In the Odyssey, when Odysseus tells his men yo not eat the flower, they do it any way. They end up losing their minds ans staying on that island. The behavior of the lotus eaters reveals that some things can be really additive. Like someone else. Penelope, not allowed to live a fulfilling life as a possible widow. Instead, she must now provide for a flood of suitors. Likewise, people in modern America take a lot of drugs. However, these people don't know what their doing with them. while people still take drugs, they are held back from doing curtain things.
