Developing metacognition (understanding how we learn) is an important element of being a life-long learner.
In order to support this capacity within our students, we hold two student-led portfolio conferences each year. At these conferences, students share evidence of their learning with their families, as well as reflect on their development as learners and set goals for the following semester or year.
These conferences are overseen by each student's advisor, who also attends the conference.
Conferences can be held in a child's home language.
Students are responsible for each creating a student learning journey website using their school account with the Google suite.
The website becomes the central place where students upload:
their student learning portfolio for each semester, which form the basis for their student-led conferences
the evidence and their reflections against the learning outcomes for Community Engagement
reflections undertaken during their Grade 9 internship
any useful and relevant materialf for their careers planning and/or university applications
