Job Title: Development + Communications Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Location: In Person in Wilmington, NC

Reports To: Executive Director

Schedule: Primarily Monday–Friday with occasional evenings and weekends as needed

Salary: $50,000–$52,000 annually, commensurate with experience


The Development & Community Engagement Manager leads DREAMS' fundraising, marketing,

communications, volunteer engagement, and community partnerships to advance the organization's

mission and long-term sustainability.


For nearly 30 years, DREAMS Center for Arts Education has provided free arts education that builds

confidence, creativity, and community for youth throughout New Hanover County. As we celebrate

our 30th anniversary, we're looking for a passionate team member to help grow our impact and

strengthen community support for the next generation.


Key Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of fundraising strategies and annual campaigns in partnership with

the Executive Director.

• Research, write, and manage grants, sponsorships, and corporate partnerships.

• Cultivate and steward donors, sponsors, and community supporters.

• Lead marketing and communications, including social media, email newsletters, and

promotional campaigns.

• Develop compelling storytelling and impact communications that strengthen the DREAMS

brand.

• Coordinate volunteer recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and recognition.

• Plan and execute fundraising events, community events, and donor engagement activities.

• Build partnerships with schools, businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations.

• Support earned revenue initiatives and community outreach efforts.


Required Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong organizational and project management skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

• Successful completion of a background check


Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or experience in communications, nonprofit management, marketing,

public relations, business, or related field

• Two or more years of fundraising, development, communications, or nonprofit experience

• Experience writing grants and managing donor relationships

• Experience with CRM databases, donor management software, or fundraising platforms

• Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, or similar marketing tools
