What is Advanced Academics? - Curriculum is provided in the regular education setting through pull-out groups focusing on reading and math instruction.
Why Advanced Academics? - We strive to meet the unique intellectual, academic, social, and emotional needs of students with advanced reading and math capabilities.
How are Students Identified for Advanced Academics? - Students must meet any two criteria in the areas of identification for reading and/or math. They may be recommended for consideration by staff, administration, a community member, a family member, or self-nominate.
Criteria for Identification:
Scoring in the 89th percentile or above on a nationally normed assessment (Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS), i-Ready, Woodcock-Johnson, NC End of Grade Tests)
Scoring in the 89th percentile or above on a nationally normed aptitude assessment (Cog-AT, Otis Lennon Skills Ability Test (OLSAT), Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test
Portfolio of demonstrated evidence of advanced intellect and performance
