THE SENIOR PHOTO SHOW

2020-2021

Terri Lockamy

I have been in the photography pathway since 10th grade. I love portraiture and photojournalism and I am considering minoring in art in college. This year I created an Instagram (@ifordphotoi) for photography so that I can showcase my work. Next year I will be attending the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where I will extend my art exploration.

Kaylee Nguyen

I've taken part in the photography pathway since 10th grade. I've always been interested in the art of photography as I find it intriguing to see other artists create stories through images taken from their unique perspectives which inspired me to do the same. Next year, I will be heading off to UNC-Chapel Hill to continue my studies and major in biology. I will still continue to pursue photography as a hobby.

Anna Kelley

I have been in the photography pathway at DSA since the ninth grade, but have been taking picures since I was a little kid. I decided to base my sustained investigation around the idea of still life's because I love how photography can capture many different perspectives and moments. I will be going to Appalachian State University next year, and will major in psychology through their Honors College! Although I will not be studying photography, I will continue to take pictures as a hobby.

Jenna Hawkins

I came to DSA thinking that dance would be my pathway. I had never taken photography before, but I quickly learned that photography was also one of my passions. I love photographing landscapes and portraits while also experimenting with light and shadows. I am looking forward to continuing photography as a hobby throughout college and continuing to explore and learn more about it.

Nicole Yap

I have been a visual arts student since coming to DSA in sixth grade, but I started taking photography in my sophomore year. I chose to make my final year in Photo a means to explore the meaning behind a staple Filipino garment called the "Barong Tagalog." With this exploration I became stronger at directing subjects and setting up an appropriate mise-en-scène. I'm looking forward to the many compositions I'll make and find when I head off to college (and beyond when I go on to travel).

Angel Foster

I have been on the photography pathway since 10th grade. I have always been very interested in taking photos and seeing them developed into photographs. I enjoy taking photos of nature rather its basic trees and flowers to deep woods and empty pathways. I really enjoy taking pictures and using photo shop or filters to give the photos that "old time" look.

Maxwell Stecher

I like capturing every part of our world. The world we live in is extremely unique and there are so many details in everything, I wish to somehow capture it all. I started seriously taking photo's in the 9th grade when I was asked to pick another elective.

Mavis Carroll

This is my 3rd year in Photography at DSA, after two years trying to get in, and three years in the 2D department as well as a year in Digital Arts. Ive always been interested in photography, mostly leaning towards the editing process of photography. I think taking note (by taking photos) of things or people that give you emotion, is super important and has a certain value that is just becoming easier for us as a generation. I find importance in photography in my daily life, and in career, and will be implementing it when I begin attending Elevate Salon Institute, In creating artistic representation of my work in school.

Timia Pugh

I started growing an interest in photography around the 8th grade and began taking photography here at DSA during my 10th grade year. I really like the aspect of taking pictures from your own perspective and allowing other people to see it and understand it themselves. I want to continue to take photography as a hobby and try new projects and styles that I have never done before as a challenge. I really enjoy photography and all the elements that go along with it and the ability to express yourself through images that people can relate to

Destinni Brown

I have always liked taking photos, I would be like 7 or 8 and taking pictures and you could tell that I took the photo because the people would be looking down. I love the the emotion that the people convey if they are telling a story. I want to be able to express my feelings though photography so i would be going to school and taking those classes.

Jordan Baines

Photography has been something I've been interested in ever since the sixth grade and as soon as I got to high school I knew I needed to have photography as one of my pathways. From freshman year to now taking photos has been a big hobby for me and starting my senior year I've even been able to make good money from it. From capturing special moments to taking photos of beautiful scenery, I love it all and it makes me so excited to give and to have these pictures for everyone to enjoy. Having my last year of photo class at DSA during Covid has been a bit of a challenge, this year has been a whirlwind, but despite this hardship, I've still been able to do some great work and enjoy the great experiences behind each one of these works! :)

Ellen Berghausen

I came into DSA thinking I wanted to do theater, but quickly discovered I was more passionate about the 2D art pathway. I have been in photography since 10th grade. While I enjoy abstract photography and the creative manipulation of photographs, I most appreciate it as a form of capturing the truth of moments and as a means of physical memory. I love how photographs can secure feelings and details that we don't always initially see, or remember. Beginning this fall I will be attending Cornell University, where I will continue to take photographs.

Alexander Lazarus

I started photo in 9th grade, mostly as something I was vaguely interested in. I found my passion was mostly in the digital side, as well as capturing landscape. I enjoy using it as a form of flow, and showing more than I often can. Showing environments I might never see again, and using digital talents to draw out something more.

Tahsin Rahman

I have been in the photography pathway since 9th grade. I have always taken an interest in taking photographs, learning about influential photographers, and digital design. I enjoy taking photographs of landscapes, portraits, and still lifes of simple objects. This fall, I will be attending Duke University and will major in Chemistry. While I might not take photography classes in college, I will definitely continue photography and digital design as a hobby.

Jessica Diaz

My interest in photography started when I had my first camera and I would love to take photographs of my family whenever we gathered. I´ve been in the photography pathway since 9th grade and enjoyed learning about photoshop, portraits, landscapes, and so much more. Overall capturing life through photography. Heading to college this fall I also plan pursuing photgraphy as a hobby.
