About the test: The PSAT in as assessment designed for students preparing for the SAT. The assessment measures Reading, Writing and Language, and Math skills that have been developed primarily through their coursework. In addition to allowing students to gain insight into the format of the SAT, the PSAT provides students with personalized SAT practice on Khan Academy based on their responses. Students also receive increased access to additional scholarship providers, online college and career planning, college admission and financial aid information, and majors and career exploration.

If a Student Misses the PSAT/NMSQT Administration (School Year 2020-21)

A student who does not take the PSAT/NMSQT in October 2020 or January 2021 because of illness, an emergency, or other extenuating circumstance, but meets all other requirements for NMSC program participation, may still be able to enter the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. Please visit the Resources page on NMSC’s website after the PSAT/NMSQT administration to download information about procedures for alternate entry to the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. To be considered, a student must complete certain requirements before April 1, 2021.
