2025-2026 School Year Update
Membership will be offered to Sophomores and Juniors with a 3.0 weighted GPA in Spring 2025. Students with eligible GPAs will receive information and applications in their DPS email and/or homeroom classes (in-person learning).
Current members for the 25-26 school year will be required to complete 40 service hours, 6 of these hours must be tutoring Riverside students.
40 hours of volunteer work:
20 community hours from outside activities
14 hours from NHS activities (Includes service through RHS clubs and organizations. Note: Regular club meetings do not count—only service-related activities.)
6 hours of peer tutoring through NHS sponsored tutoring
Required meetings (These will occur once-twice a semester. Communication will be sent through remind.)
Two required service events per semester
Members maintain & graduate with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Any office referral will result in disciplinary action by the disciplinary committee
The purpose of National Honor Society is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character. Therefore, in addition to academic achievement, NHS membership is also based on leadership, service, and character. NHS Membership is offered to eligible sophomores and juniors. Eligibility letters will be sent out in the Spring semester. (Find the letters here and several translations.)
Applicants must submit an online application and request a completed teacher recommendation form to by the deadline (provided on eligibility letter). Check to see if a teacher has submitted a recommendation on your behave here. A panel of faculty members will then choose from the applicants based on those who exemplify the traits of scholarship, leadership, service and character. The chapter adviser does not determine member acceptance.
Riverside National Honor Society Guidelines & Regulations (for admitted members):
A one-time dues payment of $15.
