Maria Montessori.Field studies play an important role in Montessori secondary education. They are incorporated in each cycle of study, and are connected to either academic content, our current Montessori theme, or community building, and often all three! Field studies at Lakewood are designed thoughtfully: each field study incorporates pre and post lessons, tools for reflection, and student work. Field studies range from a trip to a museum, a walking neighborhood inquiry, or an overnight immersive experience. We know that learning extends far beyond the walls of the classroom, and we aim to create meaningful field study experiences for our students.
