Welcome to the Ignite! Online Academy Professional Digital Learning site. This site will serve as a hub for current professional learning opportunities as well as a repository for previous professional learning content. The site is organized around the principles of the TPACK Framework.
The "T" in TPACK stands for Technological Knowledge. Technological Knowledge refers to ways of thinking about, and working with technology, tools, and resources. Technological Knowledge is the ability to use digital and instructional technologies to be productive. It is also the ability to recognize when information technology can assist or get in the way of achieving a goal. Lastly, it is the ability to continually adapt to changes in information technology.
Pedagogical Knowledge is knowledge about the processes and practices or methods of teaching and learning. It is the "how" and the "why" of instruction. How will students learn the content? Why do teachers choose particular methods to teach a concept?
Content Knowledge is understanding the content that is being learned or taught. Teachers must be Content Knowledge experts in the subjects that they teach. This includes concepts, theories, ideas, organizational frameworks, practices, and approaches toward developing such knowledge.
