The Jazz Band is an opportunity for students to play music together in smaller groups, which is much different than our large concert band. We will incorporate elements of Rock, Latin and Swing Music to play a wide array of songs. Jazz Band will teach students how to improvise and create their own music with other musicians! Jazz band is a co-curricular club that is open to all students who have been playing their instrument for at least 1 year.

Come make some art with Mz. Maynard. Enjoy creating with lines, colors, shapes, textures, and values(shading). We will make quick projects to brighten up your room or to give as presents. There will be step-by-step projects for making cards, designing letters, creating animal drawings where they are wearing clothes and more. The Current Events club is all about discussing what's In The News. 2020 is an EVENTFUL year, if nothing else. There's a pandemic, a major election cycle, wild weather, and much more already happening! We'll discuss what you think are the most important events going on right now: here in Durham, throughout our state, the nation, and around the world. If you see something wild, wacky, or majorly important, bring it to the club for all of us to learn, enjoy, and understand. We'll also untangle the confusing news of the day and figure out the Who, What, When, Where, Why of it all. (Bring snack and a drink! We all will!)
