Playground Coverage

Playground Procedures

  • Board Policy 3021:Each school shall provide a minimum of thirty minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity for all K-8 students daily. Opportunities to participate in physical activity shall not be taken away as a means of punishment, nor shall severe and inappropriate exercise be used as a form of punishment.
  • All playground time should be structured, planned and well supervised. If you plan free play, this must be closely supervised. There are fewer accidents when students participate in closely monitored activities. Remember to check the playground equipment before your children use it.
  • Active, adult supervision is critical for a successful playground experience for all. Students should be limited to a certain part of the playground and always be supervised (you must be able to see ALL of your students at ALL times).
  • Please take the “red bag” with a walkie-talkie and Band-aids to the playground
  • Team activities should be inclusive of all students.
  • No tackle football or rough play allowed.
  • Make sure your students are quiet and accompanied by an adult as they exit and enter the building. Students should not run into or out of the building. The transition to and from recess should be orderly with the teacher dismissing students to play in a controlled and safe manner.
  • Early re-entry into the building is for EMERGENCIES ONLY.
  • Encourage your students to use the Buddy Bench.
