Organization

Tips & Tricks

If one of your goals is to improve or maintain your grades this year, it will be very important to stay organized! If you are organized, you will be able to turn assignments in on time, better prepare for tests, and make sure projects don’t wait until the last minute.

There are some really great ways you can stay organized using the Google apps you already have on your Chromebook. See below for info on Google Calendar and Google Keep

Google is full of great programs and features that can help you stay organized and productive.  If you like these, I would encourage you to look up some more, such as Google Tasks!

Avoid the "Sophomore Slump"

Get involved...

Find which extracurricular activities or volunteer work that best highlight your skills and interests, and focus on earning leadership roles in those organizations.  It is better to succeed in one or two than to spread yourself too thin with many different things.

Keep Grades Up

Sophomore year is a great time to improve and maintain your grades.  Work on creating good study habits and time management skills. This way you will be even more prepared as you get further into education.

Challenge Yourself

If you think you can handle the work, push yourself by taking AP and honors courses. Only take advanced courses for which you have the necessary time and passion for the subject.  Try to sign up for elective courses that are in line with your interest or future career goals.

Build a College List

Begin a list of potential colleges and research what they have to offer.  Include safety schools, match schools, and reach schools.  You can always edit the list as you do more research. It is a good idea to visit campuses in person if you are able - teacher workdays, spring/holiday breaks and summer are great times for college visits.

**Ms. Kurz will visit classrooms during the spring semester to talk about how to search for colleges using your scores and information!
