ELA E Teacher
Welcome! My name is Ms. Kelly, and I’m thrilled to be your teacher this year. As I begin my fourth year of teaching, I am deeply committed to creating a safe and supportive classroom community where every student feels valued. I believe that by setting high expectations, we can all achieve great things together. I’m excited to get to know each of you and look forward to the incredible journey we’ll embark on this year!
I believe that every student is capable of learning and achieving great things when supported in the right environment. In my classroom, I strive to create a space where students feel safe, encouraged, and motivated to take ownership of their learning. Accountability is an important part of that process. I want students to recognize their growth and take pride in their progress. I also believe that education works best when we function as a team. I’m here to support your child, and I value open, ongoing communication so we can work together to help them succeed.

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT YOUR STUDENT AT HOME
Encourage reading: Remind your child to read often.
Read to them: Share stories out loud.
Let them be the author: Have them make up their own stories.
Answer questions: Talk about the story and answer their questions.
Visit the library: Take trips to find new books.
Let them choose books: Give them the freedom to pick what they like.
Set a reading time: Read at the same time each day.
Keep books nearby: Have books around the house.
Read aloud: Use expression when you read.
Pick books they enjoy: Choose topics they love.
Show your own reading: Let them see you read.
Reread favorites: Read books more than once.
Read together: Share the book and take turns reading.
Make it fun: Use voices, props, or act out the story.
Create a cozy reading spot: Set up a comfortable reading corner.
Give them choice: Let them decide what they want to read.
READING ADDS UP!
A student who reads for ten minutes every day typically has a broader range of vocabulary and in increased level of spelling. Reading exposes children to new ideas, facts, and cultures, helping to expand their knowledge and understandng of the world around them. Not only does regular reading help make students smarter, it can actually increase brain power.
