Special Education Task Force

During the summer of 2018, the Student Equity and Opportunity team hosted feedback and engagement sessions for DPS staff as well as parents and families to discuss the barriers to success faced by our students with disabilities. These sessions took place between June 20 and August 15 at locations around the city.


During the 2018-19 school year, we will continue to have engagement opportunities for our community to discuss how best to support special education in DPS. We have created a task force of stakeholders to review data, including feedback from our summer engagement sessions, and to discuss priorities and areas of focus for the special education team.


Update: April 2019

The recommendations of the Special Education Task Force were presented to the Board of Education in late March and can be found here. The Board has asked for additional time to review the work of the task force and we will share updates when they are available.
