We’re excited to invite your child to the Edison Read‑a‑Thon from December 19 – January 6. This year’s event has two goals: to encourage students to read over the break and to raise funds to support our classroom libraries and the Edison Library.
How it works
Each student will receive a paper challenge sheet (the sheets can also be found on the link above).
The challenge sheet lists short reading challenges students can complete over the break. Students may work on one challenge at a time and may repeat the same challenge multiple times. Completing different challenges can earn additional prizes.
We’re focusing less on competition and more on enjoying reading. There will be no single “top reader” prize. Instead, any student who reads at least once during the break will receive a prize.
Students will be introduced to the Read‑a‑Thon during library visits over the next two weeks so they understand the challenges and how to use the sheet.
How you can help
Encourage reading time at home — even short sessions count.
Help your child choose and record challenges on their challenge sheet.
Return completed challenge sheets after break to the classroom teacher by Friday, January 9th.
Consider supporting our fundraiser — donations will go directly to classroom libraries and the Edison Library to buy books and resources for our students.
