Training in various high-paying trades: Carpentry, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Pipefitting, Renewable Energy, and more.
Soft skills development: Work ethic, teamwork, and other essential skills for success.
Professional support: Resume writing, certifications, and insider connections to help students secure jobs.
Job placement assistance: To turn applications into interviews and connect students with the right opportunities.
This program is tailored for motivated individuals from low-income backgrounds who meet the following criteria:
18 years of age or older
High school diploma (or close to completing a GED)
Driver’s license (or close to obtaining one)
Reliable transportation
Clean UA
While I understand most of our students are still in high school, this program is perfect for students nearing graduation or who are 18 and completing a GED. I’ve also scheduled a tour of The Master's Apprentice on January 7th at 1 PM for students interested in learning more or applying.

The BuildStrong Academy of Colorado is a non-profit school offering hands-on training and career counseling services to Coloradans hoping to launch careers in construction. BuildStrong uses the Home Builders Institute's Pre-Apprenticeship Certified Training (PACT) curriculum, recognized by the US Department of Labor, to offer high-quality, engaging pre-apprenticeship training. The program also offers job placement opportunities through strong partnerships with industry partners.
CHIC's Construction Trades Essential Skills Pre-Apprenticeship lasts 12 days and provides skills training and certifications that allow women to enter registered apprenticeship, other paid training, or entry-level construction trades job. Training includes: Introduction to construction; Overview of trades / Opportunities in construction; Tools; and Construction math; Financial literacy; Interviewing; Elevator pitches; and Goal setting and management.
The Civil Construction Academy provides no-cost on-line and in-person training for anyone wanting to kickstart a new career in construction. Revamped curriculum comprises six comprehensive courses that will help equip participants for success in civil construction (see Certifications & Credentials). The majority of coursework is self-paced online, in addition to an engaging in-person session that includes hands-on training and a discussion on the diverse career pathways within civil construction. Classes are offered in English and Spanish.
The Careers in Construction program reintegrates hands-on construction training into Colorado's high schools, giving students a head start toward rewarding careers in the skilled trades. Designed as an approved pre-apprenticeship pathway, the program equips students with foundational skills and practical experience - right inside school-based construction labs outfitted with real tools, materials, and equipment. For students ready to enter the workforce after graduation, Careers in Construction offers a direct line to job opportunities, apprenticeships, and long-term success in Colorado's growing construction industry.
Fortified Academy was developed to combat the shortage of CDL drivers. Recruitment is targeted to justice involved individuals, veterans, and youth. The CDL program consists of three tracks: Pre-Apprenticeship, CDL School, and Registered Apprenticeship. The Pre-Apprenticeship & CDL program include 44 hours of online and instructor-led Related Instruction with 160 hours of Behind The Wheel training.
GRID Alternatives Colorado strives to increase access to solar and electrical career pathways while providing employers with qualified candidates for jobs in the growing renewable energy industry. The training is a four-week program including classroom, interactive labs, hands-on learning, and real-world experience. The program provides an introduction to the solar industry, solar installation, electrical basics, safety practices, and job-readiness training. Participants can register as electrical apprentices with DORA (Dept. of Regulatory Agencies) and gain up to 160 experience hours towards their electrical licensure.
AMPLIFY is a pre-apprenticeship program designed to help participants get hands-on experience with basic electrical work and to "test drive" the career before making a bigger commitment to become an apprentice electrician with IEC member companies. Participants receive training on performing basic electrical work under the guidance and supervision of licensed Journeyworker Electricians.
Corpsmembers spend half of their time participating in education services and activities, and the remaining time is spent developing technical skills and building affordable housing on a construction job site. YouthBuild combines education, service in the community, job training, intensive wraparound support services, mentoring, and leadership development.
