Students will play a variety of jazz, swing, and stage band music ranging from the 1940s to the present. Students will be required to perform in one or two concerts, depending on the schedule. Instrumentation for jazz bands is very specific, so students must play one of the following instruments: saxophone (alto, tenor, or baritone), trumpet, trombone, piano, bass guitar, or drums (trap-set)

Symphonic Band members will build on the skills and knowledge developed in Concert Band and will advance their techniques and understanding in preparation for collegiate ensembles, a possible career in music, but above all to be lifelong musicians.

Concert Band members will continue to develop their skills on their specific instruments, as well as deepen their understanding of reading music while playing different styles and genres of band music.

Drumline students will develop performance and reading skills with performances at parades and ball games, depending on schedule. If you have a high energy level or love the sound of a good drumline or drum ensemble and working together as a team, this class if for you! Students will have the opportunity to play snare drum, bass drum, cymbals, quad toms, and other percussion equipment.

The Dickinson City Band is a group of local musicians that was established in the early 1900’s. The band meets on Monday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 and typically performs twice a year. Today the group consists of teachers, professors, students, business owners, doctors, nurses, ranchers, and farmers and many others!
