Year B Summer

Down At The Bottom Of The Garden

In this project we look at the wildlife that we find in our own gardens and the environments around us. In science and geography, we will look at the habitats of different types of animals and how they are adapted to live in these environments and the different features of these biomes. In history, we will look at the voyage and discoveries of Charles Darwin on the Beagle. In art, we will develop our observational drawing skills (to be just like Darwin!) and in design and technology we will make our own animal environment dioramas.

We will be making links within all this learning to Children's Rights, for example:

Article 24 - the right to health and a clean environment.

Article 29 - the right to learn about their own culture and that of others.

Article 31 - the right to play and relax with others.

Relationships & Changing Me

Our JIGSAW Puzzle piece for PSHE this half term is ‘Relationships’. We will think about healthy relationships with our family and friends, learning about the qualities of good friendship and how to deal with any difficulties we might find in our relationships. We will also think about being a good friend to ourselves, acknowledging our own successes and mistakes as experiences to be learned from. We will celebrate the positive and trusting relationships around us and learn how to express appreciation to others.

After half term our Puzzle piece is ‘Changing Me’. In this piece we look at life cycles and the natural process of change as we all travel the journey of life. We will reflect on changes that have happened so far and the changes that might come in the future, talking about the differences in boys and girls using the correct terminology. We will think about ways of coping when change feels difficult, reflecting on our year together in our class and preparing for transition to the next school year.
