Bring Your Own Designated Device
Bring Your Own Designated Device
St Joseph's Catholic High School is a learning community where students, parents, teachers and others are in partnership. We are a collaborative, caring community that fosters the total development of each individual, allowing one to find personal identity and live a happy productive and meaningful life.
St Joseph's operates a BYODD (Bring Your Own Designated Device) 1:1 Learning Technology program.
In 2025 St Joseph's will require all students in Years 10 - 12 to supply their own Apple MacBook.
IPads will continue to be supported for Years 7-9 but an Apple MacBook is the preferred option.
Parents of students in Years 7 -12 will be given several options of appropriate MacBook, but purchasing must be made from an external retailer such as EducomIT Harvey Norman, JbHifi etc prior to the start of the school year.
Why Apple MacBook
The decision to continue using laptops in Years 7 - 12 is part of a whole school Technology plan. Many schools in our Diocese and throughout Australia are now taking advantage of new learning technologies and are using MacBooks. For this reason, the current Technology plan has all Year 7-12 students learning and accessing technology with a more powerful device in the form of an Apple Notebook.
The BYODD 1:1 program at St Joseph's aims to support all students in improving student engagement, participation and achievement. Apple MacBooks are a powerful tool for collaboration, active participation, critical thinking, innovation and discovery.
