Early Adopters Share their Expertise
Facilitated by Tom March
Eight educators met during a very busy time of year to share their favourite uses of Scribo and thus expand their expertise. The session was a brief 27 minutes , but more than exceeded expectations. Strategies that were shared ranged from classroom use to KLA and whole-school initiatives. Not only were the educators inspiring, but often had data to demonstrate the impact they and their colleagues were making to improve students' writing skills.
You can watch the whole Zoom session or segments below that particularly interest you.
Sarah Blades
Sarah Blades of St John the Evangelist describes how she uses Scribo to target growth in her students' writing skills based on HSC data. Besides an incremental approach that allows her to record and give students feedback easily, Sarah also makes great use of Scribo's Rubrics that she aligns with the Marking Guide. She also steps through how she creates these rubrics. Fantastic work using Scribo to address her students' specific needs.

Heath Dennelly
Heath Dennelly shares how students at St Joseph's have achieved measurable growth in their writing skills. He outlines a whole-school approach where all KLAs engage students in writing using Scribo's Writing Check. What's particularly compelling are the data visualisations Heath demonstrates. Furthermore, because this is a strategic approach, now that basic skills in punctuation, grammar and and sentence have improved, next year's target will be supporting students to write more sophisticated sentences by mastering conjunctions.

Therese Weber, Nicole Tree and Liz Dadd
Therese Weber (Holy Spirit), Nicole Tree (Magdalene) and Liz Dadd (John Therry) share their experiences using Scribo's Writing Check to build students' skills. Therese describes using Scribo to support students in a differentiated class. The Writing Check provides immediate feedback while also reducing the marking load. She has also begun using Presto Learning which led to a sharing on that software. Nicole shares how a whole faculty (Visual Arts) has used Scribo over several years to improve Year 7 literacy skills. The focus on writing has had a positive impact of their students' HSC achievement. Finally, Lizz Dadd, Literacy Instructional Coach discusses her own classroom use of Scribo and brainstorms how it can support their whole school weekly writing activities.

David Teuma
David Teuma of Mt Carmel shares his expertise on both software and change management, discussing practical and strategic aspects to expanding use of Scribo and Literatu data across the school. One idea is to use Scribo during an extra 10 minutes of new one hour class periods to target improved literacy, while another is to hold Literatu Nights for parents to introduce them to how data can inform and accelerate learning.
