Student Reflection
The artwork that I have created is based on the scripture passage, ‘Journey to Bethlehem’. I called it ‘The Dark Journey’ because it would have been a difficult journey for Mary and Joseph. They might have travelled through sandstorms and lost their way in the dark. But they didn’t give up.
To create my artwork, I used black chalk, which I smudged with my finger. I used acrylic paint for the people and used a paper cut out to make the clouds. I used rubber for the outline of the clouds. I used a black piece of chalk to outline the hills, which I also smudged. The paint I used for Mary and Joseph was acrylic paint.
I can connect to this story because I too have been through difficult times in my life. I sometimes have bad days at school. I can learn from Mary and Joseph’s determination by not giving up when times are hard.
