Student Reflection
My passage was Luke 2:1-5, ‘The Annunciation’. My artwork shows a dove flying to Mary, despite the darkness surrounding the scene, the dove shows a path full of light. This light can be seen as the Angel or the hope and light of what Christ brings amidst the darkness.
I relate with Mary, as seeing God be with me even during times of grief and crisis, showing hope and love even when picking a difficult path. This showed me to have hope and trust in God, even when it might not seem like it.
My chosen scripture really deepens my understanding and connection with God. It shows that through prayer and hope, God will carve a path for us. It helps us understand that we need to take on challenges and trust in God the whole way through because he loves us amazingly.
My artwork is heavily inspired by God and Mary. Throughout the drawing process, I tried to picture what Mary would've seen during that time. In my imagination, I think she saw a new beginning to life and hope for humanity. My style was to use acrylic paint, make highlights and shadows, and make it look realistic.
