Student Reflection
My artwork is based on the scripture passage Matthew 1:18-25, ‘The Visit of the Magi’. I went for an abstract piece with different materials to create a bold image. It tells a story of peace and joy and the journey that Mary and Joseph went through to follow God's message. Even though it was a long journey, they still kept their promise to God.
I used gold shiny paper for the heads to represent halos which symbolise peace and that they have finished the journey. I made the star bright and bold to stand out because the star is the one that guides the Magi to the stable where Jesus was born. Jesus is wrapped in a white cloth because it symbolises hope and new life.
This artwork is intended so people understand how important the Magi are in our Catholic faith. We follow Jesus just as the Magi did long ago.
