My name is Chris Brown and I serve as the Dover band booster president. When I started serving the band booster organization I had 2 kids in the band program, and now I have 1 presently. My oldest graduated Dover and is attending SAU where she was awarded a $3,000/year band scholarship for her outstanding ability on the flute. My second child Bella is a junior this year and plays the trumpet. I also have a 5 th grader, Zeke, who is eager to play in band next year. I am married to Melissa (Johnson) Brown and I currently serve on the Dover school board as the president this year. I am the Vice President of the Dover chamber scholarship board that meets yearly to hand out scholarships to outstanding Dover students.

I joined the boosters to help a worthy organization that fuels our kids passion for instrumental music and fosters creative thinking and in turn helps in the academics of each student. The program as helped so many young musicians with items not covered by public school monies. The boosters have purchased a few instruments that we have found in the private sector that the program really needed and we have bought original music pieces from the composers, bought music books for the students. The program also feeds the kids that make all region/state. The boosters also have a concession stand at all region events at the school that all profits go back in to the program. The club also defrays/supplements a big portion of the cost for the band trip every three years. The boosters allows a great parent involvement that fosters the love of music and musical instruments. There are always volunteer involvement opportunities with the boosters at any level to suit your time constraints. Let us know if we can help your musician or you in any way!
