Class overview
5th Grade ELA 📚📝
This course helps students become confident, thoughtful readers and effective writers. Students will read a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts while developing skills in comprehension, vocabulary, critical thinking, and text analysis. Through writing instruction and practice, students will create narrative, informational, and opinion pieces while learning to organize ideas, use text evidence, and apply the writing process. Students will also participate in discussions and collaborative activities designed to strengthen communication skills and prepare them for success in middle school and beyond.
5th Grade Science 🔬
This course introduces students to the exciting world of science through hands-on investigations, experiments, and real-world applications. Students will explore topics such as matter, energy, ecosystems, Earth and space, and the interactions between living things and their environment. Through scientific inquiry, students will learn to ask questions, make observations, collect and analyze data, and use evidence to explain their thinking. The course encourages curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration while helping students develop a strong foundation in scientific knowledge and skills.
