Ms. Dworak's Language Arts Classes
The 7th Grade Language and Learning Disabilities (LLD) English Language Arts course is designed to support students with diverse learning needs by providing explicit, structured, and multi-sensory instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. This course emphasizes the development of foundational literacy skills, reading comprehension strategies, written expression, and vocabulary acquisition, tailored to students' individual strengths and areas for growth.
Students will engage with a variety of texts, including fiction, nonfiction, and multimedia resources, to build critical thinking and inferential comprehension skills. Writing instruction will focus on sentence structure, grammar, organization, and expanding ideas with support. Targeted instruction in phonics, decoding, fluency, and spelling will be incorporated as needed to strengthen reading accuracy and confidence.
A structured, supportive, and differentiated approach will be used to foster independence, self-advocacy, and a love of learning. Through individualized goal-setting, hands-on activities, and small-group instruction, students will develop the skills necessary for academic success and real-world communication.
Ms. Dworak's Science Class
The 7th-grade Language and Learning Disabilities (LLD) Life Science course is designed to provide students with a structured, multi-sensory approach to understanding fundamental biological concepts. This course focuses on building foundational knowledge through hands-on learning, visual supports, and interactive activities tailored to meet diverse learning needs.
Students will explore key life science topics, including ecosystems, food chains and food webs, plant and animal adaptations, cells, heredity, and human body systems. Instruction will emphasize inquiry-based learning, simplified language, and guided practice to reinforce comprehension and engagement. Lessons will incorporate interactive notebooks, scaffolded instruction, and real-world connections to help students apply their knowledge in meaningful ways.
Through differentiated instruction, small-group discussions, and hands-on investigations, students will strengthen their observation, classification, and reasoning skills while developing confidence in scientific inquiry. This course fosters curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the living world while also reinforcing literacy and critical thinking skills within the context of life science.
