Students from various programs enrolled in the Lit 10: Literatures in Mindanao course, gathered at the University Gymnasium for a literature festival with the theme, “Interlacing Mindanao's Cultural Heritage and Identity Through Its Literature,” on April 30, 2025.
Cheers filled the gymnasium as the festival launched with a spirited parade featuring student banner entries and the dazzling array of the Character Cosplay competition participants.
With a warm welcome to all attendees, Mr. Lee Ulrich Tuanquin, BSEd English Faculty, introduced the esteemed panel of judges and clearly outlined the judging criteria for the Character Cosplay, Ballad (Solo), Ballad (Duet), Spoken Poetry, Photography, and Speech Choir competitions.
Twenty-two sparks of brilliance ignited the stage from morning’s scorching heat to the afternoon’s gentle close with each entry showcasing their wit, boundless creativity, powerful vocals and the profound depths of human emotion, ultimately compelling a deeper appreciation for Mindanao’s rich cultural heritage.
The Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) 1 bagged three championships for the Spoken Poetry, Ballad (Duet), and Speech Choir competition while the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) 4 took home the gold for the Ballad (Solo).
In the Photography contest, the entry from Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) C entitled “Threads of Time, Streams of Identity,” emerged victorious and the Character Cosplay of Naga by the students from BSEd Science (SCI1B) and BS Psychology (PSY1B) came in first place.
