The university gymnasium of Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) transformed into a vibrant battleground of talent and athleticism as the Bachelor of Physical Education's (BPEd) Kinetics Organization (KO) hosted its highly anticipated KO Day 2025 last March 14-15.
This year's theme, "The Clash of Fast-Food Champions," saw four spirited teams – KFC Graveh (1st Year), Wendy's Feelingera (2nd Year), Jollibee Feelingera (3rd Year), and McDo Da-Pabida Chains – duke it out in a series of competitions that showcased the diverse skills and unwavering spirit of the BPEd students.
The two-day extravaganza kicked off with a battle of wits as the teams faced off in a challenging Quiz Bee. Deseree Balbido of PEd 3 emerged victorious, setting the tone for the fierce competition that followed. The afternoon saw the poignant 2nd BPEd Pinning and Pagkilala ceremony, a heartfelt tribute to students who excelled in academics and service, solidifying the organization's commitment to holistic development.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the gymnasium buzzed with anticipation for the evening's main events: the Mr. and Ms. Kinetics Organization 2025 and the electrifying Drag Race. The "fast-food champions" took to the stage, their performances a dazzling display of creativity and showmanship. PEd 3, with their "pasavouge" energy, instantly captured the audience, securing gold medals for Best Fast-Food Chain Icon and Cheers and Yells.
The crowning moment of the evening arrived with the selection of the new BPEd ambassadors. Jerold Matutina and Avril Camille Fediles of Wendy's Feelingera swept the competition, amassing a collection of minor and special awards that paved their way to victory. Matutina's heartfelt final statement resonated with the audience, emphasizing the power of perseverance and the importance of using personal struggles as fuel for motivation. “I want you to know if I can, then you can too,” he stressed, inspiring a wave of applause.
However, the competition was far from a one-sided affair. Zoilo Ostos and Elmae Jane Melloria of McDo Da-Pabida Chains presented a formidable challenge, earning the Most Eloquent award and the prestigious Ginoo at Hiyas ng Sining 2025 crowns. Their eloquent speeches and captivating stage presence demonstrated the depth of talent within the BPEd program.
The night continued its spectacular run with the KO version of RuPaul's Drag Race, a breathtaking display of artistry and performance. The queens of PEd 1 and PEd 3 battled fiercely, culminating in a decisive performance set to Lady Gaga's "Abracadabra." Nancy Ecstacy of PEd 3, with her stunning stage presence and creative costumes, ultimately took home the crown, along with the Best in Creative Costume and Social Media Star awards, leaving Lunge Leffemme of PEd 1 to a respectable runner up position.
Day two saw the athletic prowess of the BPEd students take center stage. PEd 3 continued their winning streak, securing gold medals in the Vocal Duet competition, volleyball, and traditional games tournaments. PEd 2 showcased their rhythmic skills, clinching victories in world dance sports and street dance.
As the dust settled, the Jollibee Eksenadora chain of PEd 3 emerged as the overall champions of KO Day 2025, their consistent performance across all events solidifying their victory. Wendy's Feelingera, KFC Graveh, and McDo Da-Pabida Chains earned well-deserved recognition as the overall first to third runners-up, respectively.
KO Day 2025 "Clash of Fast-Food Champions” was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of talent, sportsmanship, and the vibrant spirit of the Bachelor of Physical Education program. The event served as a testament that "BPED is not PE lang", hence proved their ability to excel in both academic and extracurricular pursuits.
