Faculty of Teacher Education (FTEd) Phoenix showed a sweet sweep in the Musical Arts Competition during the Siglakas 2025 on April 23, securing three out of four gold medals. This feat marks their chances of defending their overall sociocultural crown of this year’s Siglakas.
The Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) grandstand was filled with impressive musical and vocal dominance last night. Despite the pouring rain, loud cheers still resounded from the supporters from different faculties and extension campuses, which boosted the confidence in their performing bets. Contenders from twelve (12) tribes battled out, demonstrating their exceptional vocal dynamics and commanding stage presence, marking their assured victor in various competitions.
In the end, the Phoenixes did not give any room for the defending champions, the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences (FALS) Vipers on the musical throne, who have been dominating the said competition for two consecutive years since 2023.
FTED secured gold medals in Kundiman, Vocal Pop Solo, and Vocal OPM duet categories, taking advantage of the absence of FALS' Christine Rivera, who brought multiple accolades for the said faculty.
Furthermore, the Faculty of Computing, Engineering, and Technology (FaCET) also secured their first gold medals this year in the Live Band competition after their multiple attempts for a podium finish in the previous editions of Siglakas. FaCET also secured gold medals in the standard choir competition, alongside with the Faculty of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (FNAHS) who placed on top for the Show Choir category.

The DOrSU Wellness Center transformed into a vibrant arena of artistic prowess as talented individuals from various faculties locked in a series of visual arts competitions last April 22-23.
Participants for Photo Contest exuded visual artistry, capturing the essence of the moment with every click. The silent intensity was equally palpable in the Pencil Drawing and Charcoal Rendering events, where intricate details emerged from the focused hands of the artists, each line and shadow served as testaments to hours of dedicated practice.
The stakes were high, not just for the victory but for the pride of their respective faculties. Spectators, a mix of students, faculty members, and art enthusiasts, witnessed the unfolding of creativity in its rawest form. Each competition offered a unique window into the artistic views of the participants.
Furthermore, the Faculty of Computing, Engineering, and Technology (FaCET) led the medal haul in the visual arts, where they secured golds in In-Situ Painting and Artistic Photography. Meanwhile, the faculties of Criminal Justice Education (FCJE), Banaybanay Campus (BC), and the Business and Management (FBM) also earned the top spots for On-the-spot Poster Making, Pencil Drawing, and Charcoal Rendering, respectively.
