Through strong communication, the Knoxville Community School District can keep its stakeholders informed of everything going on within our community's local public schools. It also enables school and district leaders to respond to urgent communication needs in a quick and effective ways. Specifically, we aim to ensure our parents, staff, students and community members understand and support our mission.
As school and district leaders, there are three distinct situations in which we must communicate effectively and promptly:
(1) School Safety or 'Crisis' Issues: When there is an immediate threat to school safety, we must take swift action to address the issue, ensure the safety of all students and staff, and communicate to our stakeholders. Please download this one-page guide for the steps to take when dealing with a school safety issue.
(2) Urgent Communication Issues: These situations do not involve a defined school safety threat, but nonetheless require prompt and accurate communication. Examples include drug-related issues, student fights, misconduct and student protests. Visit this page for the steps to take when dealing with an urgent communication issue.
(3) Proactive Communication Opportunities: As a school district, we must focus on sharing the positive news happening throughout our school communities. To that end, we have established a comprehensive communications plan. Visit this page for tools and resources you can use to communicate proactively with stakeholders.
