Athletic Training is an Allied Health profession that focuses on 5 domains of patient (athlete) care:
1. Prevention
2. Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis
3. Immediate and Emergency Care
4. Treatment and Rehabilitation
5. Organization and Professional Health and Well-Being
The profession of Athletic Training requires at least a Bachelor's degree, passing of a certification or licensing exam and attending continuing education courses/seminars. Donna North Athletic Training focuses on Evidenced-Based Practices that are backed by current research and information.
DNHS Athletics has 2 Licensed Athletic Trainers on site that oversee the healthcare of UIL-sponsored Athletics & Fine Arts programs.
So, what does an Athletic Training Student Aide do?
Donna North Athletic Training plays a critical role in the success of all Chiefs & Lady Chiefs Athletic teams. We are responsible for the prevention, care, treatment, and rehabilitation of all athletic injuries that our athletes may encounter. AT Student Aides at Donna North assist the Athletic Trainers in all aspects of Athletic Training which can include, practice and game coverage, taping/wrapping, treatments, rehab, and providing first-aid.
