Personal professional development (PPD) is the process of improving and increasing the capabilities of employee through access to education and training opportunities in the workplace. That helps employees improve oneself through such activities as enhancing employment skills, improving professional relationships, increasing growth mindset and consciousness and building capacity.
Topics include:
stress management - healthy ways to manage stress and self-care
team building - skills to help work together more effectively
interpersonal skills - skills to build and foster professional relationships
emotional intelligence - skills to manage one's emotions and the emotions of others
Other trainings include Adult Mental Health First Aid Training - geared for campus and district administrators, to introduce them to the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health challenges among adults, builds an understanding of the importance of early intervention, and teaches them how to help an adult experiencing a mental health or substance abuse-related crisis.
Individual counseling is a personal opportunity to receive support and experience growth during challenging times in life. Individual counseling can help one deal with many personal topics in life such as stress, anger, depression, anxiety, relationships, grief, etc. There is no preset limit to the number of counseling sessions available. The Adult Mental Wellness LPC along with the individual will determine the duration and frequency of sessions during the initial evaluation and treatment planning phase. Sessions usually last 45 to 60 minutes and meet weekly or biweekly, depending on the treatment plan.
Mental wellness check in creates time and space for employees to process events and experiences in a helpful, adaptive way. It supports employees experiencing stressful situations such as coping with changes caused by grief, loss, illness, etc. that could lead to experience stress, anxiousness, confusion, fatigue, or other feelings. Mental wellness check in is not a counseling session nor crisis intervention counseling. It is a prevention support to help employees understand there is someone who can help and to provide tools to manage their response to stress and other emotions. It helps determine where an employee is with coping and how well they are functioning. Just like check-ups for your physical health, wellness checks are sometimes needed.
Crisis intervention counseling supports employees experiencing extreme levels of mental distress. Individuals going through transitions such as death and complex emotions that put individuals at risk for self-harm or make it difficult for an individual to function. Crisis intervention counseling has a more immediate focus. It concentrates on resolving any dangerous or potentially dangerous situations through short-term support designed to bring stability to the crisis at hand.
