A heartfelt appeal to sow peace and reconciliation, addressed to young people in every corner of the world, came to life in a video released today through all the digital channels of the Salesian Family and published on www.symjubilee.org: Fr. Fabio Attard, Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, and Sister Chiara Cazzuola, Superior General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, have asked young people across the globe to become builders of a future that is disarmed, reconciled, and full of hope.
"Let yourselves be guided by Providence," said Fr. Fabio Attard in the video message, "like Don Bosco who, in the dream at the age of nine, heard: ‘Here is your field, here is where you must work.’ You too are called to cultivate peace in the field that is your life: your family, your school, your community."
The invitation to all young people who wish to commit their energy to transforming the world is simple and powerful: "Here is your field: cultivate peace, forgiveness, and reconciliation."
"Pope Francis has often reminded us to be builders and artisans of peace," explained Sister Chiara Cazzuola, "to make every one of our communities a ‘house of peace,’ as he himself said: a house where hostility is defused through dialogue, where justice is practiced and forgiveness is safeguarded."
Inspired by Don Bosco’s famous dream at the age of nine, in which young John receives the mission to lead and transform hearts with kindness, the message calls every girl and boy to care for their own "field": their life, family, school, and community.
It is also an invitation to create digital content – videos, podcasts, posts, reels – that share seeds of peace, daily acts of reconciliation, inclusion, dialogue, and fraternity: a concrete way to counter the culture of hatred and spread peace even through social media.
The video, subtitled in five languages, will be shared thanks to the global network of Salesian schools, youth centers, parishes, missions, and communities. The initiative is aimed at everyone – a universal appeal to shared responsibility and to take concrete steps for peace, as outlined in the Jubilee's proclamation bull “Spes non confundit.”
