Penguins For Earth Logo

"I wanted to say a big thank you to the Sustainability Subcommittee for choosing my logo. I am very honored that my logo was chosen to represent Penguins for Earth!

Here is a little about me - I am a senior at Dominican majoring in Fine Art and Graphic Design with a minor in Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship. I have always had a passion for creating with purpose and meaning to create the little change that I can to help our Earth and society. When the opportunity presented itself to create a logo for the Sustainability Subcommittee, I was very excited to contribute. When creating this logo I reflected on Earth Day, what it truly represents, and what message I was trying to translate to my audience. For the logo, I used the Earth as the center of the logo because it is the main focus of Earth Day. I also wanted to show a zoomed out perspective of our Earth and that we are one home and we need to take care of it as it takes care of us.

Additionally, I created a penguin hugging the Earth to represent Dominican University coming together as a whole to create a more sustainable way of living. I think it is crucial that we start taking the health of our Earth seriously, just as we take our own health seriously because we only have one planet Earth. I hope that my logo brings awareness, reminding the Dominican community the importance of making small sustainable decisions to preserve our Earth for many future generations to come."
