About the OT Applicant Interview
Our informational "Interview" for applicants takes a holistic approach to learning about you as a unique person, your awareness of occupational therapy, and readiness for graduate-level work. The day starts with a program overview and icebreaker so everyone gets to meet each other. Then you move on to the "role play" portion. Current students role play as a patient and you, the applicant, get to be the OT in the scenario. This is overseen by faculty members. You may be with one other applicant who is also playing an OT in the role play scenario but it is not a competition. It is to gain knowledge of your interpersonal skills and OT knowledge. You'll then meet one-on-one with a faculty member. Notification of acceptance could happen the same day or within a week.

The best preparation you can have is to bring your authentic self to the interview. You will not be expected to study up on specific OT knowledge.There will not be a quiz! You should however have a good understanding of what occupation is and the role of occupational therapy.The interview could take place in person or online via Zoom.

The purpose of our ‘interview’ is to assess your strengths in the core skills we feel are needed for you to succeed as an OT student and future OT.
These attributes include: active listening, communication, teamwork, reflection, and the ability to give/receive feedback. We will not be assessing your clinical knowledge and skills.

On the day of the interview, you will follow the Zoom link sent to you, or come to the designated room on campus for in person interviews, taking notice of your start time.
When you enter the Welcome Room, you will be greeted by our OT Ambassadors (current OT students). The ambassadors will welcome you with an introduction video and facilitate a social ice breaker.
You will then be guided through the interview process.
