Description
This book is a collection of original newspaper articles and essays from Hearn dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The articles collected chronicle urban and rural life in New Orleans. In Chapter 2, "Saint Malo: A Lacustrine Village in Louisiana, " originally published in Harper's Weekly in 1883, Hearn documents his explorations and understanding of a Filipino fishing village just outside of New Orleans- the first Filipino settlement in the United States.
