DoDads Designs is a Virginia-based start-up company comprised of four diverse friends and neighbors with distinguished backgrounds and careers.  

"What's with the name, DoDads Designs?" We get asked that a lot and the answer is in the name itself. 

Have you ever thought "wouldn't it be cool if...…", "it would make life so much easier if...", or " I don't know why they can't just make.."? I'm sure we all have at some point in time in our life. We do it constantly.

DoDads Designs is the result of neighboring dads of school-aged children who can do it all. Mend it, make it, design it, develop it, invent it, create it, or whatever is needed for almost any situation.

DoDads was formed to initially develop tools and equipment to save time and labor for a fellow DoDad in the landscape industry but it grew into something more.

We wanted to solve bigger problems (the bigger the better) AND have a positive impact that could be measured not only in cost savings to an individual but to the entire country, possibly the world.

With our mission statement, "Adding value by solving the complex with the simple." We started looking for some of the biggest problems that faced our nation, had the most variables, and provided a solution that could impact the most people possible. That's when we decided to tackle our first project: Cargo Theft.

Jim retired after 23 years of service protecting America's people and assets from threats of explosive devices both improvised and conventional, on land, at sea, in the air, and underwater.

He started J and D Works (Jim and Daughters) to live a purposeful and useful life with his wife and two daughters. Jim's daughters continue to take part in learning about running a small business as well as working in the field.

He discovered a passion for design, engineering, additive, and deductive manufacturing. Coupled with an innate ability for solving complex problems; DoDads Designs was created.

"It's a way for me to continue to serve, just in a different way"

Tim has spent his entire career creating life-saving medical devices.  He has been a project manager and design engineer for more than 25 years.

Being a dad has helped Tim see the world through a different lens.

Tim joined Dodads because there was an opportunity to apply his skills and offer benefits outside the medical realm.
