APPROACH
Theoretical/project based
The aim of this course is to provide the students with basic manual (templates) and digital (Lectra) modelling tools, as well as to teach them the different uses and development methods of pattern templates. The course also focuses on material consumption schemes related to the use of fabrics and manufacturing techniques.
The programme grants 8 credits, divided as follows:
Handmade model: 5 CFA
CAD: 3 CFA
Successful students will be able to:
Handmade model
Be familiar with different templates and their uses.
Use basic alteration techniques.
Identify the most suitable template to develop a model.
Manage all production phases of prototypes.
Schematize all production phases through technical drawings and data sheets.
CAD
Basic understanding of digital pattern making programmes.
Create basic models.
Handmade model
Classes will be held in a laboratory, where students will learn all manufacturing phases including manual pattern making and prototype manufacturing.
Analysis and application of all manufacturing phases from drawing to prototyping. Students will acquire self-sufficiency in the management of this kind of product development.
CAD
The course will cover the fashion-specific CAD tools Lectra, Modaris and Diamino.
This is a theoretical/project based course.
Students will take part in the following activities, which may vary depending on the development of different projects:
Classroom lectures.
Use of tutorials, videos or other media tools.
Exercises and revisions.
Workshops.
Individual or group projects.
Individual or group study and research.
Assessment tools may include:
Submission of exercises, projects or research work
Further details about the exams will be provided by the professors.
The final grade will result from the weighted average of the programme modules.
