This children’s home and rehabilitation center in Kahilipara, Guwahati, supports homeless, abandoned, and intellectually disabled boys under 18, including those with autism, ADHD, and Down syndrome. As Assam’s first such institution, it operates under MISSION VATSALYA, with support from corporate, social, and individual donors. The home provides self-help, pre-vocational, behavioral, medical, psychiatric, academic, and therapeutic training. With 40 residents, it offers 24/7 care and focuses on developing independent living skills through activities like music, dance, yoga, and sports. Recreational outings and a special in-house education unit ensure holistic development for every child.
Destination is a unique, one-of-its-kind shelter home cum rehabilitation center for destitute, homeless, abandoned adults with mental health challenges and also special needs youth who are transitioning into adulthood. It provides post-treatment care and rehabilitation for individuals discharged from mental hospitals and asylums, addressing the societal reluctance to reintegrate them. The center also accommodates special children from Destination’s CCI who turn 18, as no other suitable facilities are available for their continued care. Supported by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of Assam, along with individual and organizational donors, the project offers holistic rehabilitation through counseling, vocational training, music, yoga, medical and psychiatric support, and other need-based interventions. The aim is to help beneficiaries develop self-sufficiency and gradually reintegrate into society. Currently, the center supports 50 residents, focusing on structured care, emotional healing, and skill development to ensure dignity and purpose in their lives.
