Students will engage in hands-on learning experiences that connect ideas across different subject areas. Students will take an active role in their learning by asking questions, exploring real-world problems, designing solutions, testing their ideas, and reflecting on what they discover.
Using the design thinking process, students learn to understand the needs of others, brainstorm creative possibilities, build prototypes, gather feedback, and improve their work. Technology (including coding and robotics) is used as a purposeful tool to help students research, create, communicate, collaborate, and share their learning in meaningful ways.
Throughout these experiences, students may work independently or in teams to build models, conduct investigations, create digital projects, solve challenges, present their thinking, and learn from both successes and mistakes. These opportunities help students become confident problem-solvers, thoughtful collaborators, effective communicators, and creative thinkers who are prepared to take on new challenges.
When I'm not teaching, I am probably spending time with my incredible family. My husband Tim and I have been married since 2012. We met while attending Arizona State University (go Devils!) and have since then lived in Tempe, the Dominican Republic, and San Marcos. We have two children, Hudson (9) and Aida (6). We also have an enthusiastic Golden Retriever puppy named Poppy who keeps us on our toes. We love exploring local hidden gems, camping, going to musicals, baking, and taking road trips across the country.
