Welcome to Third Grade!
My name is Sophie Lasensky and I am so excited to be teaching 3rd grade here at Carmel Del Mar!
I earned my B.A. in Human Development and Family studies with a concentration in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from Colorado State University, where I also completed a multiple-subject teaching credential. Over the past year, I've had the privilege of serving as a kindergarten long-term substitute here at CDM, and Pacific Sky. I’ve also had the amazing opportunity to teach 1st grade internationally at Home School Internacional located in Valencia, Spain. Teaching abroad was an incredibly unique experience!
From a young age, I’ve always known I wanted to be a teacher, and I am truly passionate about creating a positive and engaging learning environment for my students. I’m looking forward to working alongside you and your children as we embark on a fantastic learning journey this year!

My teaching philosophy is rooted in an inclusive, safe, consistent, and nurturing environment. All children are unique and must have an environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. It is my desire to create an atmosphere where students intrinsically want to learn and participate in classroom culture. It is also extremely important to me to have an understanding of mutual learning between teacher to student which will create collaborative learning in the classroom.

I was born and raised in San Diego County, growing up in Carlsbad. After completing my undergraduate degree in Colorado, I couldn’t resist returning to the sunny San Diego life style. I now live in Encinitas, where you’ll often find me enjoying the beach, taking Pilates classes, going for long walks along the coast, trying yummy foods, or spending quality time with my friends and family.
