Mrs. Patrick's Biography:
Teaching Background:
I graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies. I completed my teaching credential and master's degree in Cross-Cultural Teaching at National University.
My teaching career began in Del Mar at Ashley Falls where I taught first grade for 13 years, kindergarten for 5 years, and fourth grade for 2 years! This will be my first year at Del Mar Hills as a second grade teacher, and I can’t wait to make it an amazing year!!

Educational Philosophy&What to Expect in the Second Grade?
We believe in providing each student with a safe and engaging learning environment where they will be respected and motivated to take agency over their own learning. Every student will be provided with opportunities to take risks, set and meet goals, have fun, and grow. We believe students learn best through meaningful opportunities that draw on their personal experiences. Sharing these experiences and thinking with classmates in a cooperative learning setting is essential and meaningful to students' learning. We strive to stimulate students' passions and curiosities in order to become life-long learners.

A little more about Mrs. Barton:
I live in Carlsbad with my husband and two kids Will and Finley. In my spare time I love to spend time with my husband, kids, and traveling around the world. When at home I enjoy family time at the beach, in my backyard, and going on walks with my dog Maela. I also enjoy reading, running and anything that takes me outdoors.
