Hello and welcome to 5th grade! My name is Michele Chavez, and I am excited to be your child's teacher this year! I feel very fortunate to work in this important profession where I have the opportunity to share my love of learning while empowering and encouraging students to continually develop their own love of learning! Time goes by so quickly! I can't believe that this is my 39th year of teaching! I continue to thoroughly enjoy teaching and wake up each day eager to come into the classroom and learn with my students.

Life Outside of the Coyote Den
My family includes my husband, Mark, my daughter, Graciela, and my son, Antonio. Living in Oceanside allows us to spend lots of time at the beach and outside in our yard. Mark and I enjoy jumping on the Harley and cruising along the coast! When hanging out at home, I can often be found with a book in hand, as reading is one of my favorite hobbies!

What to Expect in 5th Grade
In 5th grade, students will continue to build on their academic skills and develop strong relationships by practicing effective communication and collaboration with peers and teachers. Through engaging in thinking routines and collaborative problem-solving, students will sharpen their critical thinking abilities and learn to approach challenges with a positive mind. Students will develop important organizational and time management skills to prepare them for the future.
