Educational Background and Professional Experience:
Welcome!
My journey in education began at the University of Colorado-Boulder, where I earned my degree in Sociology (Go Buffs!). Soon after, I made my way to sunny San Diego and completed my teaching credential at CSUSM. During my program, I had the privilege of student teaching right here in Del Mar—and I instantly fell in love with this incredible school district.
Before stepping into my own classroom, I spent time at Ashley Falls as both a substitute teacher and the school librarian. In 2007, I officially joined the Del Mar family as a full-time teacher! After two wonderful years in 1st grade and 17 amazing years in 2nd grade, I am thrilled to begin my third year as a 4th grade Pilot.
I love Del Mar and feel so fortunate to be a part of this inspiring community every single day!

Welcome to 4th Grade!
Fourth grade is an incredible year of growth, independence, and discovery! My passion as an educator is helping students develop strong critical thinking skills while fostering a lifelong love of learning. Above all, my goal is to ensure every child feels valued, supported, and challenged to stretch themselves as they discover their unique strengths.
Guided by DMUSD’s Portrait of a Learner, our classroom focuses on cultivating student agency, creative problem-solving, and collaboration. This year, we’ll dive into rich, hands-on learning across all subjects:
📚 Language Arts: Developing deep comprehension strategies, analyzing complex texts through novel studies and read-alouds, and growing into confident, thoughtful readers.
🔢 Mathematics: Building fluency with multi-digit multiplication and division, investigating geometric figures, and mastering fractions.
🗺️ California Social Studies (TCI): Exploring the rich story of our "Golden State"—from its early history and diverse geography to how we can thoughtfully problem-solve for California’s future.
🔬 Science (Amplify): Stepping into the shoes of real-world scientists to investigate Earth’s changing features, analyze plant and animal survival structures, and explore energy and motion.
It is going to be an extraordinary year of learning, creating, and growing together!
About Me!
I am originally from the small town of Belleville, Illinois, just outside of St. Louis, MO. Yes, this makes me a Cardinals baseball and Blues hockey fan! I have been living in San Diego for 24 years. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my incredible family. Mike and I have two kids, Riley and Bradyn. Riley is ten and loves softball, crafts and family adventures! I am so excited that she will be in 5th grade at Pacific Sky this year! Bradyn is seven and loves baseball, the Padres, soccer and flag football! He is looking forward to moving up to 2nd grade this year. These two definitely keep us on our toes! When we're not attending softball, baseball or soccer games; I love going on family adventures, reading, visiting with friends, going to concerts, camping, watching sports, working out, and cooking! I can't wait to learn all about your child and work alongside your family this year!
