This will be my 8th year teaching Art and my 14th year in education. Before joining DMUSD, I taught Art at a K-8 school in San Jose, California, where I became the lead teacher of our electives department for 5 years. Before moving up to Northern California, I taught for SDUSD's VAPA program and was an instructional aide at High Tech High and KIPP San Diego charter school. Fun fact: I started my educational career in Hanoi, Vietnam where I taught English as a second language to TK-12th grade students! My educational background includes receiving my Bachelor's degree in Art History at UC Santa Cruz and my Master's Degree in Teaching from Azusa Pacific University as well as my Clear Single Subject Teaching Credential in Art. I am very excited to be returning to my DMUSD STEAM+ family and look forward to another incredible year of exploring the world of art with my students at Pacific Sky and Sycamore Ridge!

I believe the visual arts have a magical way of helping my students find their voice and sense of belonging. I strive to cultivate a learning environment where my students can feel safe to express themselves through art with a variety of means and methods. I create my art studios so my students feel comfortable to take creative risks and contribute their unique gifts to our learning space. Whether it's with paint, clay, oil pastels, fibers, colored pencils, watercolors, wires, cardboard, or any other medium, I believe each student is an artist and deserves to be given opportunities to explore their creativity with independence and choice!

Life Outside the Hangar
When I'm not in the classroom covered in paint, you can find me dreaming of my next travel destination, hanging out with my 3-year-old niece, sharing jokes with friends, listening and discovering new music, painting, swimming, dancing, cheering on local sports teams, watching shows, and strumming along to my ukulele.
Being in the ocean is my favorite. Here I am post-snorkel in Maui this past June.
