Ashley Falls School
Educational Background and Professional Experience: I received my Bachelor's Degree in Diversified Liberal Arts from the University of San Diego. I continued my education at USD and earned a Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in Literacy the following year. I began my teaching career at Ashley Falls in 2000 as a student teacher and have proudly called it my home ever since. Over the years, I have taught both 4th and 5th grade, and I am looking forward to another wonderful year together!

In our 5th-grade classroom, children will be provided with a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where they are encouraged to take risks, explore new ideas, and grow both academically and socially. I believe that every child brings something special to our classroom community, and I am committed to recognizing and nurturing each student’s unique strengths, interests, and learning styles.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that children learn best when they feel respected, valued, and connected. Through a balance of structure and creativity, I aim to foster curiosity, confidence, and independence. Our classroom culture is centered around kindness, respect, collaboration, and responsibility—skills that will serve students well both inside and outside the classroom.
In 5th grade, students will be challenged to think critically, work cooperatively, and push themselves to grow in meaningful ways. Academically, they will develop deeper reading comprehension skills, expand their ability to write with purpose and clarity, strengthen their mathematical thinking, and explore science and social studies through inquiry and discovery. Socially and emotionally, we will work on building self-awareness, empathy, and effective communication through class discussions, group projects, and community-building activities.
Families can expect open communication, a strong home-school connection, and a classroom where students are encouraged to be problem-solvers, risk-takers, and kind-hearted leaders. I look forward to a year filled with learning, laughter, and growth for every child!
Outside the classroom, I love spending time outdoors and soaking up as much sunshine as possible. Whether I’m at the beach, riding bikes, or simply enjoying all that California has to offer, being outside brings me joy. I’m also a proud aunt and love cheering on my nephews—both who play sports in college. And of course, I’m always rooting for the Padres! I cherish time spent with my husband, as well as our wonderful family and friends. And when I need a little pick-me-up, you can probably find me in my “Happy Place”... Target!
