Business Formation / Start Up
When beginning a business, you must decide what form of business entity to establish. The business format determines which income tax return form you have to file. We can assist you in evaluating the pros and cons of each entity type to help you determine the most advantageous form of business for your company.
The Most Common Business Types
Sole Proprietorship. Someone who owns an unincorporated business by themselves.
Limited Liability Company or LLC. A corporate structure whereby the members of the company have limited responsibility for the company's debts or liabilities.
Partnership. A relationship existing between two or more persons who join to carry on a trade or business.
Corporation or C Corp. A business structure that enables its owners to establish their company as a separate legal entity, and as such, corporations are wholly separate from the people who own and operate it.
Nonprofit Corporation. An organization incorporated legally under state law whose basic purpose is to exclusively benefit a group or society, commonly for charitable, educational, or religious reasons, instead of providing financial benefit to any of the corporation’s members or other outside individuals.
