Most district tech coordinators pushed out the Chrome extensions (Read&Write and Equatio) for students. Teachers can install them from the Chrome webstore.
Texthelp Suite is available to ALL Arkansas students in grades 3-12. Please make sure teachers and students are using these tools routinely during instruction.
ALL students can use TTS (text-to-speech) on the new ATLAS Summative assessment for math, science, and writing. They need to use the Texthelp tools in instruction so they will be familiar with TTS on the summative.

R&W offers TTS and Highlight
Designated Supports- R&W Line Reader. This MUST BE TURNED ON IN ADVANCE OF TESTING - Any student CAN have these. DTC must turn this on before testing!!
Accommodations - R&W - TTS. This is where the Decision Tree will be used! Students must have an IEP or 504 and take the uPar assessment at least 3 times to qualify.
Evidence from the Protocol for Accommodation in Reading (PAR or uPAR) or AEM Navigator indicates the student comprehends grade-level text using text-to-speech (ear reading) at significantly higher levels than reading a text silently(eye reading).
To receive TTS (text-to-speech) on the ATLAS Reading Passages as an accommodation on the reading portion of the assessment, the student must meet the following criteria on the TTS Guidance document.
Students uPar score MUST be GREEN (above 75%) at Grade Level with TTS (Accommodation) and MUST be RED (less than 25%) on Independent reading on Grade Level.
