Mentor 70%
Panel 30%
Proponents of a project may qualify for this distinction if their work draws 4.0 from their mentor and the panelists. If one panelist gives a 3.5, the project still qualifies.
The mentor will then nominate the proponents to the Department, who will decide by a majority vote.
The Department Chair notifies the University Registrar of its decision.
The proponents will receive medals during the College recognition rites.
The award will appear in the commencement program and the Dean will read this achievement as their individual names are called during the commencement proper.
The award may be given to more than one project for as long the requirements are met.
THSCAMO may be completed in up to two terms. If you do not finish this term, you will be assigned a 9.9 (deferred) grade and you may wrap things up and defend in the next term. Since THSCAMO is a non-lab course code, you will have to enroll in academic residency.
If you don't defend this term, DON'T reenroll in THSCAMO (or THSCAMB) in T3. It is an unnecessary waste of tuition money and it will complicate your record with the OUR.
The production of the thesis proposal in its current form can still be carried out this term, even if the pandemic situation continues.
Here, minor adjustments are allowed, such as changing how you will do your research for your production (for example, doing online interviews instead of face-to-face interviews) or how you will present your final production (for example, a photography digital exhibition instead of a physical/printed one).
The production of the thesis proposal in its current form needs to be reimagined so that it can be carried out this term, even if the pandemic situation continues.
In reimagining your thesis proposal, you should not propose a brand new concept. Instead you should stick with your original concept but propose a new way of producing it, which should be feasible despite restrictions such as social distancing. This could mean:
a. tweaking your current proposed production to adjust to the pandemic situation (for example, moving from a collaborative photography project shot at a studio or a location to one done online via social media communication; moving from a documentary feature done in outside locations to one done at home).
b. changing the medium of your current proposed production to something that can be done despite the pandemic situation (for example, podcast; radio drama; online video shorts; children’s book; screenplay; producer project).
If your mentor approves your reimagined thesis, you DO NOT need to do another round of defense.
The production of the thesis proposal in its current form needs to be delayed, as it will be difficult to accomplish this term if the pandemic situation continues. (NOTE: The risk here is that if the pandemic situation carries on in Term 1 2020-2021, you will either have to move to OPTION B: REIMAGINE or — if still permitted at the time — defer once again).
Normally, THSCAMB is the thesis code after THSCAMA for projects involving laboratory and equipment use. THSCAMO is the counterpart code for projects without — and therefore have no access to — lab and equipment. Students are allowed up to two terms to complete their theses. In case this is not possible, they may do so in the next succeeding term: THSCAMB students pay a lab fee (LBYCAM0). Those who have no other academic load will enroll in ACADRES.
After completing THSCAMO, fill out OUR Form EN-22A (undergrad course crediting form).
Because T3 remains a fully online term, students are not encouraged to leave their homes, go to the campus, or shoot on location. Therefore, we won't be lending equipment.
