The main functions of Student Affairs involve Student Formation and Development, Student Support Services, Continuous Learning, Research Development, Collaboration, Partnership, and Engagement. These functions are carried out by formators: Program Directors, Program Coordinators, Administrative Assistants, Formation Facilitators, Social Engagement Lecturer, Coaches, Trainers, and other partners.
Hence, the continuous learning, formation, and training of Student Affairs provide venues to equip and update the formators on the Student Affairs competencies that are relevant to the current needs of the students and the Lasallian community; and an opportunity to renew and strengthen the commitment to taking part in the Lasallian mission.
The series of activities are based on the identified Core Competencies as suggested by professional organizations locally and internationally but contextualized in DLSU based on the expressed needs of Student Affairs formators. The competencies are Faith and Lasallian Spirituality, Accompaniment, Association & Fraternity, Communication, Inclusion, Diversity, Wellness, Emotional & Interpersonal Intelligence, Leadership Management and Administration, Law, Policy and Governance, Technology and Digital Engagement, Intercultural Fluency, Student Learning, and Formation Development, Social Justice and Care for the World, etc.
Lasallians believe that prayer is the heart of the community life. Thus, Lasallian formators are invited to commune with others through prayer at the beginning of the week. This academic year, we start to go back to our offices. Some are doing their work hybrid. This transition may be a challenge for the majority of our members. We need to understand and support each other and build an affirming space where we can continue our mission for the service of our students and the Lasallian community.
Hence, we started deepening our reflection with association and fraternity in our Student Affairs General Assembly. Other activities offered this term are supportive in our daily operations which includes organizing events and managing programs. The Power of Goodness event would remind us of our capacity as humans and formators to be always good through reflecting real life stories from real people.
We hope to see you all in our formation and training events. May these become opportunities of growth in faith, in continuous zealous service, in association and communion with others.
